Vincent Van Gogh, The Artist Who deserved Better!

Icon VanGogh Vincent Van Gogh

I wanted to take the time to blog about Vincent Van Gogh, the Man who didn't get much artistic recognition in his lifetime but has turned into one of the most outstanding artists of all time..

Why is he so famous? Well, Vincent created about 2,100 artworks in his life including 860 oil paintings, most of which were dated/created in the last two years of his life.- to put it into perspective for you, in the past two years of his life he delivered to us about 35 paintings with a unique style per month!

Surprisingly the Artist only sold one painting in his lifetime. It is unfortunate to say that Van Gogh was unsuccessful before his death. In fact, the rest of his paintings (more than 900) were not sold or famous until after his passing.
The only artwork sold,  “The Red Vineyard” was purchased by a Belgium artist, Anna Boch, at an art show in Belgium for 350-400 Belgian Francs.- which is equivalent to $1,500 today.

Many people in today's society may imply that they should have a career choice in mind by the age of 20, but that was not the case for this eccentric Artist who began his passion for painting in his late twenties (Age of 27). Serving as a great motivation to the youth, considering the fact that it's never too late to start something you are passionate about!

Sadly Van Gogh lacked motivation within himself, as he suffered from depression and mental health issues... which eventually caught up to him and led him to commit suicide at the age of 37 by shooting himself in the chest with a Lefaucheux revolver. His tragic mind found an escape through the art we learned to love today! After all, Van Gogh is definitely one of the MOST FAMOUS ARTISTS OF ALL TIME.

Ps. I´m thankful for the art...
