This painting would've never happened if it wasn't for Artist, Felix Gonzalez Torres and his love for Ross, represented in his installation with two clocks that start aligned by ticking seconds by the beat, day after day, but eventually drift apart with the passage of time, and loss of energy. As two equals that meet in time, and move forward for as long as possible despite difficulties. Torres wouldn't consider his art to be gay for itself, but rather art that speaks of the love for a man.
